Movies I've watched 1
I used to post short movie reviews on Cohost, a neat social media website that sadly went offline a few days ago (and read-only a few months after). I don't know if I'll get back to writing a whole post for each movie I see, so I'll use this post for some thoughts on the last few ones I watched. I'm not making a Letterboxd account.
Samurai Cop (1991): It's a bad movie, but it's a "fun" bad movie, unlike later Steven Seagal movies that are just bad. Speaking of Seagal...
Out for a Kill (2003): Complete trash. Seagal does NOT care any more. Haphazard editing, slap fights with a shaky camera to look like they're not slap fights, and a pilot character who says the line "they call me Crash because I never do." The one amusing aspect is the recurring shot of the villain's lair getting more empty as the bad guys are getting killed.
Into the Sun (2005): Complete trash, Japan (tm). Seagal's character says he grew up in Tokyo, but thinks sushi is crap. At least the annoying side kick gets killed off and some of the end sword fights are competent. Worth watching for the ghost of Seagal's fiance disappear while embracing him.
Bloodsport (1988): Van Damme in a martial arts tournament. It's good.
Kickboxer (1989): Van Damme in a martial arts tournament, except he also dances. It's good.
Lionheart (1990): Van Damme in a martial arts tournament, except he fights in different locations. It's alright.
